Camel CaravansCamels can carry people and cargo on their backs across long distances under the hot and dry conditions of the desert. The large hump on their back is filled with fat, and is a source of energy that allows camels to survive for several days without water. Camels have the unique ability to close their nostrils to keep out sand, and they have also developed long eyelashes to protect their eyes.
